Grant Eligibility Checker
Four questions. We'll tell you which UK government window-upgrade grants you're likely eligible for — ECO4, HUG2, GBIS, or Green Deal — and how much each could be worth to you.
This checker is an indicator only based on published scheme rules as of April 2026. Final eligibility is decided by the scheme administrator (your energy supplier for ECO4 / GBIS, your local authority for HUG2). Always confirm with them before committing to works.
What each scheme does
- ECO4 (Energy Company Obligation 4): large obligation scheme funded by energy suppliers. Covers fabric measures including windows for homes with EPC D/E/F/G and a qualifying low-income or benefits route. Can pay 100% of window replacement costs for qualifying homes. Runs until March 2026 (extension likely).
- HUG2 (Home Upgrade Grant 2): DESNZ-funded, delivered by local councils. Targets off-gas (oil / LPG / electric) homes with EPC D–G. Typically covers a package of measures up to £15–25k including glazing, wall insulation, and low-carbon heat.
- GBIS (Great British Insulation Scheme): supplier-funded insulation-focused scheme. Secondary glazing sometimes qualifies under GBIS, but primary window replacement usually does not — unless bundled in ECO4 Flex.
- Green Deal: loan-based, repayments through energy bill savings. Works everywhere but only economic if your payback vs savings is strong. Our payback calculator tells you if it is.
